Information:

On 07/01/18, at approximately 3:15pm, the Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office received several E911 calls regarding a sinking boat on the waters of Big Green Lake. Information received also indicated there were three persons on board with two in the water.

The Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office patrol boat responded to the scene along with Princeton Fire Department Water Rescue Team. Three persons were removed from the water and transported to shore for medical evaluation. The boat was towed to shore where it was turned over to the owner and DNR Warden for investigation.

While the investigation continues into why the 1983 Sylvan began taking on water, all five individuals, 3 males and 2 females from Appleton and Fond du Lac, were uninjured.

Agencies assisting were the Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Princeton Fire Department Water Rescue, Wisconsin DNR Warden, Berlin/Green Lake Ambulance Service, and numerous citizens who were on the water and assisted in getting to the scene quickly, providing assistance, and reporting the incident.

Boaters are reminded to follow all safety rules and regulations while on the water, including the wearing of PFD’s ( Personal Flotation Devices ), knowing the proper operation of their vessels, and the capacity rating.
