Stolen Vehicle, Pursuit, and Crash

  On Saturday, September 23, 2017, at approximately 12:30am, a Green Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted a traffic stop in the City of Berlin. The vehicle did not stop, was attempting to evade law enforcement, and nearly caused a crash with a law enforcement patrol car. The fleeing vehicle was pursued west of Berlin on Cth.E and into Marquette County, south on Sth.73 through Neshkoro, south on Sth.73 back into Green Lake County where the City of Princeton Police deployed stop sticks on Main St. at 4th St. The suspect vehicle then lost control and crashed into a traffic sign and power pole. One male subject then ran on foot and was taken into custody a short time later. The suspect was transported for medical attention having sustained non-life threatening injuries.

  Charges are being referred on the operator, a 19 year old City of Oshkosh male, for Operating while under the Influence of Restricted Controlled Substances, Fleeing/Eluding, Resisting/Obstructing, Reckless Endanger Safety with a Motor Vehcile, Bail Jumping, and Operating a Motor Vehilce without Owners Consent. The vehicle, a 2006 Ford Fusion, was stolen out of the City of Oshkosh, bearing stolen license plates.

  The suspect/operator, is in the Green Lake County Corrections facility currently being held for a probation violation and formal charging concerning the Green Lake County crimes.

  Police and other agencies involved in this incident are the City of Berlin Police Department, Waushara and Marquette County Sheriff’s Offices, City of Princeton Police, Wisconsin State Patrol, Princeton Fire/Rescue, and Green Lake County Ambulance/Medic Unit.

  The case remains under investigation by the Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin State Patrol.
