Information:
On Thursday, April 23rd, 2015, at approximately 11:10am, the Green Lake County Sheriff’s E911 center received a 911 call from an unidentified female who asked for “help”. Communications Officers could hear another person yelling in the background.

Approximately 5 minutes earlier, in Marquette County, South of Neshkoro and North of Sth.73 and Cth.Y, a #911 call had been placed to Marquette County authorities involving what was believed to be a gunpoint abduction. Marquette County, Waushara County, and Green Lake County Sheriff authorities responded to the area.

At 11:22am, Deputy staff from Marquette, Green Lake, and Waushara Counties arrived at the location where the last #911 call had been placed. This was an older farm in Green Lake County. Deputy staff located a male party living at that location who had been involved in the incident. What was learned was that a male individual from the Wautoma area had fired at least one round from an assault rifle while two residents of the farm were attempting to leave. The Wautoma male was still holding an elderly female at the farm.

The Green Lake County Combined Tactical Unit was paged, a perimeter established, and communication with the suspect began. The suspect stated to Deputy staff that he was armed and would not give up the weapon.

After moderate negotiations, at approximately 1:10pm, the suspect was taken into custody without incident. The elderly female resident was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. An assault style rifle was recovered from the scene.

The names of the suspect and the involved will be released at the time of criminal complaint. The suspect, a 54 year old male party from Wautoma, is currently in the Green Lake County Jail on a charge of false imprisonment. This is an on-going investigation with other criminal charges expected from Marquette and Green Lake County authorities. Assistance was provided by The Village of Neshkoro Police, Town of Marion Police, and Berlin Emergency Management.
