Green Lake County elected officials announce modified procedures during COVID-19 pandemic
GREEN LAKE – The Green Lake County Clerk, Treasurer and Register of Deeds offices have established how they will handle their constitutional duties and serve the public while the county’s nonessential operations are affected by the COVID-19 emergency.
The Green Lake County Board of Supervisors has declared a state of emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic. County Administrator Catherine Schmit announced the temporary suspension of nonessential services and the closure of most county facilities to the public as a safeguard against the spread of the virus.
The Green Lake County elected officials feel that the health and safety of our employees and customers remains our top priority. Limiting physical access allows the public and our staff to conduct business without jeopardizing their health. It also insures maintaining the social distance necessary to limit the spread of corona virus in our community.
As constitutional officers, the clerk, treasurer and register of deeds are required to continue to offer certain services in a limited fashion. Due to the high traffic experienced in these departments, an appointment will need to be made for an in-person appointment. Staff is still available to assist over the phone or online. We are constantly monitoring the situation and will re-evaluate these temporary procedures on April 2, 2020.
The temporary procedures now in place are as follows:
County Clerk Liz Otto’s office will be suspending the issuance of passports during the temporary closure of the Government Center due to COVID-19.
If it is necessary to obtain a marriage license during this time, call to schedule an appointment and we will accommodate your request.
The April 7th election is scheduled to take place as planned. Please call or e-mail with any questions you may have in regard to absentee voting or any other election related issues.

County Treasurer Amanda Toney is encouraging the public to pay taxes and request information through the mail, via the drop box located in the vestibule of the Government Center or by using electronic options available on the office’s website, at

REGISTER OF DEEDS:
Register of Deeds Sarah Guenther will be conducting all public services through online, mail and drop off options. The office will remain fully staffed and will continue to process vital records applications, record real estate documents and fulfill document copy requests during regular business hours. Land records dating back to 1845 are also available to view and purchase online.
