The victim in Sunday’s fatal fire on Tuleta Hill Rd., Markesan, has been positively identified as Justin G. Lewis, Age 29, Markesan.

The investigation into this fire continues, foul play is not suspect.

On Sunday, February 10, 2019, 1:14am, a citizen on the south side of Big Green Lake called the Green Lake County E911 Communications Center to report a house fire. The location of the fire was at #W2081 Tuleta Hill Rd., Markesan. Tuleta Hill Rd. is located in the Town of Green Lake, approximately 5 miles north of the City of Markesan in southern Green Lake County.

With Fire and Emergency Services paged, Deputies arrived on scene at approximately 1:26am to find a fully engulfed home. As Fire Services arrived at the scene, the fire was brought under control when a search team found a victim. The victim, a 29 year old Princeton male, who resided at the home, was later pronounced deceased.

Currently, the fire is being investigated by the Wisconsin State Fire Marshall’s Office and Green Lake County Detectives. The cause and origin is not yet known.

At this time, the name of the deceased is being withheld pending notice to family.

This incident was responded to by the Markesan Fire Department with assistance from the neighboring fire districts of Brandon-Fairwater, Friesland, Ripon, Marquette, Kingston, and the Fond Du Lac RIT team. Additional responders were the Markesan Ambulance and Emergency Management, Green Lake County Coroner, and Sheriff’s Office, also the State Fire Marshall’s Office.
