The following individuals were involved in the fatal traffic crash on Friday, May 13, 2011:

 1) Ruth M. Freeman, Female, age 56, of Brandon, WI. --- Deceased.

   Vehicle - 1992 Buick four-door car

2) Ronald K. Pahkanen, Male, age 44, of Shaumburg, IL. --- Injured.

     Vehicle - 2009 International Semi Tractor

 This crash remains under investigation by the Green Lake County Sheriff's Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Green Lake County Coroners Office.

Information:   On Friday, May 13, 2011, 5:27am, the Green Lake E911 Commuincations Center received a report of a serious traffic crash. The location of crash was reported to be on Cth.A at Cth.K (Thomas Rd.) in the Township of Green Lake, Green Lake County. This location is approximately four miles South of the City of Green Lake. Emergency responders and law enforcement were sent.

  At 5:30am Sheriff's Deputies arrived on the scene followed by fire/rescue and medical responders. Responders found a two vehicle crash with two injured victims. One victim was unresponsive and required extrication.

  An examination of the scene revealed that a passenger car driven by a lone female was traveling West on Thomas Rd.. This vehicle then entered the intersection of Cth.A and Cth.K when struck by a Semi Tractor headed North on Cth.A. The Semi was being driven by a lone male operator. The Semi operator was transported by EMS for his injuries. The female was pronounced deceased at the scene. The female was a 56 year old local resident from the Brandon area.

  Preliminary indications are that fog may have been a factor in this crash. This crash resulted in the existing Sth.23 detour to be re-routed for approximately 5 hours.

  Units responding to the scene were the Green Lake County Sheriff's Office, Markesan EMS, Markesan Fire/Rescue and Emergency Management, Green Lake First Responders, Green Lake County District Attorney, Coroner, and Highway, and the Wisconsin State Patrol. This incident remains under investigation by the Green Lake County Sheriff's Office and is being examined by the State crash reconstruction team.


Victims name to be released after notice to family.
